The most popular breakfast at home a light and quick to prepare – milk and cereal or toast with tea, coffee or fruit juice. Coffee is increasingly popular in Britain, especially among young people. There’re American-style coffee shops selling cappuccinos and lattés on every high street. And as for tea, well, that’s still the nation’s favorite drink. People drink in average of three cups a day.
SHOPPING
Supermarkets dominate British food shopping. The five largest supermarket chains sell 70% of all British groceries. They offer food from all over the world and fresh fruit and vegetables all year. Supermarkets are often open 24 hours a day and provide everything you want under one roof. They even offer internet shopping and home deliveries, so you don’t have to go out at all. You can still find traditional grocers, green-grocers, butchers and baker shops and open air markets. But they find it difficult to compete with supermarkets and their numbers are fallen. However, in recent years farmers and specialists food markets have become more popular. Here you can find local, traditional and seasonal food.

CONVINIENCE FOOD
The British eat a lot of ready meals. The demand for convenience food is grooving all over the Europe. But the British buy more ready made meals than any other European country. Indian and Chinese meals are the most popular followed by Mexican, Thai, Japanese and Italian pizzas.
EATING AT HOME
As last time is spent on cooking it’s becoming less common for families that actually just sit down and eat together. Takeaways are also popular either from an Indian or Chinese restaurant or, of course, from a fish and chips shop. Takeaways can be delivered to peoples’ homes. Pizzas are their great favorite. Easy to eat in front of the TV mainly while you’re watching a cookery program.
EATING OUT
Fast food restaurants serving burgers and chips are every where. There’s also a huge variety of restaurants to choose from with cuisines from all over the world.
