Урок по английскому языку на тему: Why throw away? Why not recycle?

Цели урока: формирование навыков устной речи (на тему защиты окружающей среды) и чтения (разносторонняя работа с текстом).

Задачи урока:

Обучающие: активизация ранее полученных знаний по теме «Защита окружающей среды»; знакомство с новой лексикой и обучение воспроизведению её в устной речи; обучение навыкам чтения с разными стратегиями; обучение навыкам письменной речи.

Развивающие: развивать коллективный дух и качества, необходимые для работы в группах; развитие навыков поисковой деятельности для получения необходимой информации.

Воспитательные: привитие чувства ответственности за нашу планету, в частности за город, в котором мы живем; воспитание чувства уважения к себе и одноклассникам (работа в группах).

Используемые методы: личностно-ориентированный, частично-поисковый.

Тип урока: комбинированный (актуализация ранее изученного; введение и первичное закрепление новых знаний).

Оборудование: компьютер, презентация, экран

Ход урока:

  1. Организационный момент. Приветствие. Постановка учебной задачи (этап мотивации и целеполагания. УУД: личностные и коммуникативные).

Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you! Let’s greet our guests.

(Good morning dear guests. We are glad to see you! )

Sit down, please! Who wants to ask questions to the pupil on duty? Well, you are welcome!

Ok, today we have an unusual lesson. Let’s guess the theme of it. Look at the screen. (Slide 1 – video: Песня контейнеров)

So, who can tell me the theme of our lesson?

Yes, our theme is: “Why throw away? Why not recycle? (SLIDE 2)

What will we do at the lesson? (SLIDE 3)

Today we will:


  • speak about recycling;

  • learn new words and word combinations;

  • create the sentences using new words;

  • work with the texts;

  • know new information;

  • do different exercises.



2) Фонетическая зарядка. Речевая разминка (проверка домашнего задания). Are you ready to work?

OK!

Let’s start from your homework. Answer the questions! (Слайд 4, 5)

  • What are the bins used for?

  • Do you have such bins in your school / yard /street?

  • What does your family do with the rubbish?Who takes the rubbish out?

  • Do you try to throw away less rubbish?

  • Do you know about recycling? What have you heard about it?

  • What products are recycled in Russia?

Use: collect, throw away, bury, recycle, produce, protect the environment, be polluted with chemical waste, be in danger, waste paper, cans, bottles, metal, plastic.




T: Well done. And now I`d like you to do some phonetic exercises. Let`s remember some sounds: (учащиеся повторяют за диктором слова, затем читают друг за другом)

What can you say about these words? Yes! They are international words!

3) Актуализация знаний.

4) Введение и первичное закрепление нового материала. Работа с новой лексикой. (результат-формирование ориентировочной основы действий. УУД: познавательные, регулятивные.)

T: Now let`s read the new words and word combinations (учащиеся читают и переводят новые слова). (Слайд 7)

T: Well done. And now the first group will create some sentence with the first 3 words, the other group will do the same with the rest 3 words. You`ll do it in a written form. (первая группа письменно составляет предложения с первыми тремя словами, 2я группа – с оставшимися тремя словами, затем учащиеся вслух зачитывают свои предложения и исправляют ошибки и оценивают друг друга).(Раздать на парту по листочку)

5) Развитие навыков чтения с разными стратегиями. Развитие навыков устной речи (самостоятельная работа в группах). Результат-самоконтроль и самооценка, каждый для себя делает вывод, что он уже умеет

T: Fine. Let`s continue working in groups. Look at the exercise 40 on page 53. The first group will read the one text , the second group will read the other text, and then you`ll change the information from the texts. You have about 5 minutes to get ready for the answer. On the screen you`ll see some photos, illustrating the texts (Слайды 8,9,10,11...).

Why throw away so much?

Many countries bury and forget about millions of tons of rubbish every year. It is known that in one year, a European family with two children throws away about 50 kilos of paper (that's six trees), and about 60 kilos of plastic.

The Green World reports say that in one year the average person throws away: about 70 food cans, 34 cans of pet food and about 70 drink cans. But we don't have to throw away all our waste paper, glass, metal and plastic. We can also burn or recycle a lot of it. In fact waste can be wonderful stuff.

Many things that we throw away can still be useful. In fact it's possible to recycle 80% of domestic rubbish. We can recycle most kinds of papег, glass, metal and plastic. But only 4% of recyclable material is actually recycled. Recycling is expensive. But it saves trees and energy and protects the environment from pollution.

Packaging

These days, people usually do shopping in supermarkets. Nearly everything is packed in paper or plastic containers. Some of this "packaging" is necessary. It keeps food clean and fresh. But some packaging is not necessary. It's just to make the food look better.

Every year in Britain each person produces about 57 kilograms of plastic waste. Disposing of all this plastic is an expensive problem. But that's not all. Making plastic causes pollution.

Unfortunately, some of this packaging doesn't reach the bins. It becomes litter instead. Some people simply tear the wrapping off sweets and throw it away. They drop their cigarette packets d cans of drink without a thought. In the town their litter looks horrible. But fortunately someone clears it away. In the country side it remains in the fields and on the roadsides less the people who live nearby pick it up. It can kill or hurt farm animals. Bottles and cans cause cuts, and the animals can eat polythene bags and die, or put their heads in them and suffocate.

T: Well done. I like your revues.

And now ask and answer the questions using the texts

(Учащиеся готовят устные ответы на вопросы по текстам).

  1. What can people do with rubbish instead of just throwing it away?

  2. Why is recycling important nowadays?

  3. How much of recyclable material is actually recycled? Why so little?

  4. Are there recycling centers in your town /village? What do people usually take there?

  5. Is packaging necessary? Why?

  6. Why does some packaging become litter?

  7. Why is litter so dangerous in the countryside?

  8. Is litter a big problem in your town/ village? Why don't you and your friends organize a "clean-up day" to clear all the litter in the local park / outside the school?



T: Very good! And now the first group will find the words or word combinations in the texts which have a similar meaning to the following, the other group – which have the opposite meaning to the following. You`ll do it in your copybooks. You have 5 minutes. See the words on the screen (слайд 12)

(учащиеся работают с новой лексикой, находят антонимы и синонимы по группам, затем представитель каждой группы зачитывает ответы).

Why is it important to recycle the domestic stuff?

P: Recycling helps to save energy and to reduce pollution.

T: What kinds of rubbish can we recycle?

P: Almost all kinds of domestic rubbish: paper, polythene, cans, plastic.

P: Yes, it was. We got to know how to save energy and to reduce pollution.
